Golden Bloom is an international collaboration between MOVA Brewing Co. and Icicle Brewing Company, born from a shared desire for cooperation, support, and optimism even in difficult times. This is a classic Munich-style Helles with soft malt sweetness, delicate floral notes, and a clean refreshing finish.
The story of this beer began in September 2025 at the European Beer Star Winners’ Night in Germany — an event that brings together the winners of one of the world’s most prestigious beer competitions. That evening, the MOVA team received three awards at once: Gold in the Bohemian-Style Lager category, Silver in Hazy India Pale Ale, and Bronze in International-Style Lager. It was there that we met the team from Icicle Brewing Company, which had also received an award in the International-Style Lager category.
As Icicle Brewing Company’s Director of Brewery Operations, Collin Christianson, recalls, despite different languages and cultural backgrounds, communication happened very quickly — through a shared love for beer, the profession, and the people behind every brewery.
“The beer industry has always had a unique ability to bring people together,” shares Collin Christianson. It was this meeting that became the beginning of a friendship and the idea to create a collaborative beer.
The name Golden Bloom symbolizes several important things at once: the golden color of the Helles, the success of both breweries at the European Beer Star, and the friendship that was born during this meeting.
The can design also carries special meaning. The illustration features a sunflower — one of the symbols of Ukraine, resilience, and peace — alongside Arrowleaf Balsamroot, a wildflower that grows in the region of Icicle Brewery and signals the arrival of spring. The illustration was created by artist Susan Webber.
For MOVA Brewing Co., this collaboration is much more than a joint beer release. We strive to be the voice of Ukraine in the global craft brewing community and to speak about our country through culture, craftsmanship, and the people behind every beer style and every story. Today, people are already talking about Ukraine at international beer competitions, festivals, and within the professional community — including thanks to MOVA and Ukrainian craft beer, which continues to resonate loudly even in the most difficult times.
Golden Bloom is an international collaboration that united two breweries from different continents around shared values of support, solidarity, and freedom. And it is especially important that this project has not only symbolic meaning, but also real impact: part of the proceeds from the release will be donated to Voices of Children for psychological support for Ukrainian children affected by the war. For us, this is yet another confirmation that Ukrainian brewing today is not only about the product, but also about the strength of Ukraine’s voice in the world.
